Sisters In Christ

One of the girls sent this to us. I thought it was sweet so here it is. :)

Sisters in Christ
                 Poem

 God brought us together
 in more ways than one,
 and made us a family
 through Jesus His Son.

 When we were created
 He knew that one day
 we’d both be related in
 this special way.

 Because of God’s grace
 He so carefully planned
 to join our two hearts
 by His own loving hand.

 I pray through the years
 you’ll remember that we
 will always be sisters
 in Christ, you and me.

"Joshua 1:9- Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
When this verse is saying, "Be strong and courageous and not terrified" it's not just talking about not being scared when someone is holding a gun to your head about to kill you. It's also talking about how God wants us to be strong and courageous in the little things like our little day-to-day struggles. He wants us to depend on Him, and to trust in Him.
"Do not be discouraged." Don't be easily put down. No matter what anybody says, you are important. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13. You can do anything! God will give you strength like nobody else can. It doesn't matter what other people say. Some people might say mean or hurtful things and try to discourage you, but you have to remember that God has a great plan for your life so "Do not be discouraged".
"For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go," God is ALWAYS gonna be with you. He says "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Through your hardest times and through your easiest times, He is always gonna be right there beside you. Holding your hand and sometimes even carrying you. Some of us will face a great many struggles and trials, but we don't have to be afraid because we can know for sure that God will be here with us.
For me this past week this verse has been pretty much what I've had to be doing. I've had to be strong and courageous. Last week I went out to the Beaumont area and did 5-day Bible clubs. We went to a children's home in the morning, and in the atternoon we went to a YMCA and 2 apartment complexes. The YMCA and the childrens home were by far the safest places that me and my team went to. The apartment complexes were the most dangerous places I've ever been to. It is unbelievable how many times we had to pray super hard for God's protection. There were a few times when I honestly was so scared. But, I knew that I was doing something for the Lord and that He would protect me so it wouldn't matter what happened to me because I was in God's hands.
It doesn't matter how big or small you are, how old you are, what you look like, what you've done, God's still gonna give you strength. He will still be right there beside you. He's never gonna leave. He is never gonna bring you a trial so big that you can't get through it. "If He brings you to it, He'll bring you through it," that's one of my favorite quotes. And ya' know what? It is absolutely true! Not one single time has God brought me to a trial that He didn't bring me through. He will do the same for you. :) God bless!

 Keeping a friendship strong...____ _  __ ________
*************************************************************************

Well, I know we've talked about friends a lot. But I feel like the issue of having true friends is something that most girls struggle with. Lots of girls think that they need to have many many friends. But if you have so many friends, how are you ever going to invest time with them all in order to grow a strong relationship? And, if you spend so much time with your many friends, where will your relationship with your family go? And more importantly, where will your relationship with God go? Another important thing about friendships is, do your friends that you spend most of your time with encourage you to follow God? Do they fill your thoughts with good thoughts? or about nonsense? Would your friends stick up for you if someone was saying mean things about you behind your back? A true friend is hard to find sometimes. The Bible says, a true friend sticks closer than a brother. If your friends encourage you in your walk with the Lord, and they encourage you to do what's right, that is a very good thing. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. If they encourage you to be disobedient, and they say that reading the Bible doesn't matter, that is not good. Be careful about the friendships you have, and be careful about how much your friends affect the way you think.
<3 SarahElisabeth

*************************************************************************

When we talk about friendships, we always talk about how important it is to make good friends who will bring us closer to God. Today I want to say it is also important to keep good friends, who will draw us closer to God. I have gone a lot of places this summer, and met a lot of new people - made a lot of new friends you might say. As always, I have prayed that God would give me just the rommates He had for me, the teammates He had for me, and the friends He had for me. He did give me a good experience and great opportunities everywhere I went, and I hope I was able to bring glory to Him everywhere I have gone this summer and with everyone I have hung out with.
Even though it is good to make new friends, we have a tendency to "forget" about our old ones. When we go somewhere new, we tend to move right on without them. Sometimes we do need to move on and let a friendship go, but that is when that friendship no longer brings us closer to God, not when we sunddenly find a new group of friends. We need to remember those who have been there for us in the good times and bad, and we need to be there for them. This is one thing I wish I had done better at this summer. No, I haven't had time to keep up with all my friends as much as I wish I had this summer, but I know I could have done better. Proverbs 18:24 says, "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Yes, I have to be friendly to find that friend, or to be that friend, but when I do find that friend, I have to also be that friend. I need to be a person he or she can trust, and that does not happen if I never take the time to ask him who he is doing, and really listen for the answer.

Trials in Strange Forms_________*  ___*________
************************************************************************

So again this week we decided for the topic to be on trials in strange forms. I was thinking about it all week. Cuz I mean, we all know that God loves us, so why does He send trials and things that are hard for us to handle? It is because He wants to draw us closer to Him, and so that He can show us how much He truly does care about us! The smallest trial you may go through, could lead to the greatest breakthrough ever in your relationship with Christ! It could be something as simple as having to stay home from a party because you are sick to something as big as the death of a loved one. No matter how big or small your trial is, God can make the better outcome sooo much bigger! It's amazing! Lately, I have not been getting as much sleep as I have needed, and so sometimes I get upset easily, or get frustrated really quick. Also, this summer I have been gone quite a bit. So that's been taking it's toll. Just being gone all the time, and not staying in the same place for longer than a week. That just gets difficult sometimes. But as I go through my week, I notice the days when I have remembered to have my devotions that morning, or if I put them off until the afternoon. My days are always a lot better when I have had my devotions, and start the day off right in God's Word and spending time with my Heavenly Father. And that also, better prepares me to face the trials and struggles of the day. So, basically, what I'm trying to say is, no matter what happens, just run to God and read His Word, the Bible. Just spend time with Him. If you learn to have a daily quiet time, the daily trials and struggles won't seem as hard. May the Lord bless you this week!
<3SarahElisabeth

*************************************************************************

So... the last two weeks have been pretty epic. In our last issue Sarah and I talked about how God has a perfect plan and every trial that comes, great or small, fits into His plan perfectly. This week I want to point out that sometimes these trials come in very strange forms.
Have you ever ridden a new bike for the first time, and had an accident? Well, the answer for most of you is probably yes. But it's probably been a few years, maybe some time around first grade when you were first learning to ride without training wheels... Thirteen days ago I was riding a brand-new bike for the first time. Oh it felt good. I'm telling you she's a beauty. A french manicure on a bicycle, that's her. I was outside riding in my driveway with my dad and my little brother and having rather a good time. They went inside to get a drink of water and I was left alone for a minute. Now you wouldn't think a seventeen-year-old girl would need to be supervised on a bike, but apparently I did. On my new bike, I decided to try something very immature really quick. Not to sound like a guy or anything, but I decided to take a 45-degree turn with no brakes, see if I could.
Well... I couldn't. Way too sharp a curve. I skinned my knee really bad, just like in first grade, and the palms of my hands didn't look too good either. I hurried inside to clean myself up, "I'm a big girl," I thought... wow. No one would ever have to know or worry about me at all. Well, being right on my joint, my knee did not even start to heal for days. Every time I would bend my leg it would bust open. It was a very humbling experience. I started limping so that I wouldn't bust it open again, but then I really looked helpless. Four days later, I woke up around 4:30 a.m. and I had scratched my eye. I could not open it. Now I became even more dependent on every one around me. Because God designed our eyes to work together, I had to keep the other one closed for the whole first day as well. My dad had to doctor it every couple hours. My brothers and sisters led me around because I could not see. Perhaps the most humbling part was meal times. Although they weren't trying to be hateful, my family couldn't help but laugh every time I put an empty fork in my mouth. And they were nice enough to eat in the dark with me for days because the light hurt my eye so bad. I did not open it for good until the fourth day. Again that was an humbling experience. I was mad, and "the weirdest things happen to me," I thought. I knew there was something I should be learning from all of this, and when I thought about it, I realized that the more I had had to rely on my family as the week had gone by, the more frustrated I had become. So there was a purpose, no matter how weird it does sound. No I did not have time to deal with those things, but God did. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." He wanted to teach me some humility, and I sure hope I learned it so I won't ever have to learn that lesson again!

"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, says the Lord, plans to give you a hope and a future. "
~Jeremiah 29:11

This is one of my favorite verses right here. Jeremiah 29:11. So many things that seem to go wrong turn out to be right. God knows what He is doing. He really does, and He has plans not to harm us, but to prosper us, to give us a hope and a future. One of the good things He has done for me this summer is give me a very good summer job that He has made clear is His plan for me right now. He has made it very clear to me and I am so grateful!

On the other hand, when things happen around me that hurt my friends or family, I hurt for them. I try so hard to understand, to see the good in every situation and notice how God can be glorified in it. But sometimes, things just cannot look right from down here. This is when we have to trust God, and God alone, that His plan is perfect. We are looking at the puzzle from the bottom-side up, but He sees the whole picture from Heaven where it matters for all eternity!

Tonight we went to the grocery store. My mom and sister and I met this guy - a very friendly bagboy - but he really made me think. He started talking to my mom about all kinds of things, and he asked her if we went to church anywhere. She told him yes we did, and she told him where. He then asked if she had a favorite Bible verse and what it was. When she answered, he asked her what it meant to her. After my mom told him what Psalm 103 meant to her, he quoted both of his favorite Bible verses and told her what they meant to him. He told my mom how the church is what keeps us going, and that is what God designed it for, we cannot do it alone. I was really impressed. This sacker is in his early twenties and he was diagnosed as a diabetic at a very young age. He has definite eye problems as a result. He was also run over in a parking lot as a teenager, and yet he is the one who is willing to witness to a perfect stranger, and we learned all this in five minutes! He has acccepted God's plan for Him, and he is willing to acknowledge the Father in all his ways. I just wanted to share that with ya'll. God will be glorified in our lives, no matter what happens, if we just let Him!

Love ya'll, Autumn

Understanding God's Will
In the past 3 or so years God has done HUGE things in my life. I've been realizing more and more that He uses the hard times and trials that come into my life, to make me stronger and to strengthen my relationship with him. About 3 and a half years ago, a super sweet man died. He was a family friend. His family, and my family were all best friends. Our families got together all the time. This man served God with his whole heart and loved his family and all others around him. He had a heart for lost souls. Anyways, he died, leaving behind 9 wonderful children and an equally wonderful wife. For the longest time, I couldn't even begin to imagine why God would allow such a great man to die. But then through lots of prayer, I realized that God gives and takes away for a special reason. God knows what is around every corner and turn in our lives. We just need to trust Him to work everything out. :)
One of the hardest things that I have ever experienced happened right before Christmas last year. I grew up knowing the sweetest old man ever. He was like a Grandpa to me. In fact, thats what I called him. I saw him twice a week. And enjoyed all the time I got to spend with him. Eventually, as he grew older, he got really sick and I only got to see him 1 or 2 times a month. He got better for a while and then, once again, he got sick. He had prayed for me as I was growing up, and now, it was my turn to pray for him. I saw him 5 months before he died. Of course, not knowing that it would be the last time I saw him alive on this earth. His last words to me were "Keep serving God. You're so beautiful. I love you baby." With tears in my eyes i replied "I love you too Pa." The next time I saw him, he was in a casket. He died a couple weeks before Christmas.
Once again I struggled with why God would take someone so special to me, away. I just didn't understand it. Then He brought my favorite Bible Verse to my mind. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God; to them that are the called according to His purpose" Romans 8:28. It was as if He was saying, "Sarah, I'm doing this for a special reason. I have a very special plan for your life and this is going to make you stronger. Remember, If I bring you to it, Ill bring you through it."
So girls, just remember that God will bring you through every trial and every hard time. It doesn't matter what happens, He will still love, He will still care about you, and He still has a specific plan for your life. Just remember to pray, and depend completely on him to get you through.
  Love ya'll! Sarah Elisabeth

14 Happy Birthday Loice!!!
Loice is turning 14 on June 16! Happy Birthday!!
Loice is #4 in a family of nine girls and one boy. She likes reading and spending time outdoors, and her favorite ice cream is vanilla or mint chocolate chip.

For all of our new readers.... this is us: Sarah (left) & Autumn (right)

Here's what's been on my mind lately: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

All your ways... there is so much to that! Yeah I've always known that Christians should never be ashamed of the Gospel, and that we shouldn't compromise our standards, or deny His name. But this verse tells me to claim His name, to acknowledge Him in EVERYTHING! Whoa! Sometimes I just want to seem normal! I can be a good kid, and hold to godly standards without being a Bible-thumper right? Especially now that I'm in college classes all the time. I really don't like to "acknowledge" Him in front of a hundred and forty-six people and a professor every time I introduce myself to a new class. I always have to wonder, what if my instrcutor is like an atheist and will hate me forever if I tell him I'm a Christian. I'll tell him my honest opinions in every assignmentand he'll probably figure it out anyway.  If someone asks me if I'm a Christian, why would I lie? If they ask me to pray for them, of course I will! I can even talk about going to church, just as long as its not too much. This is not what Proverbs 3:5-6 tells me.

Proverbs 3:5-6 does not say "in all your ways acknowledge your participation in Christian social events" - which is what I sometimes tend to make church sound like when I am around other people, people who do not know God. No, we are called to be "a peculiar people," based on I Peter 2:9. I dont' really like the sound of that. Peculiar. Hmm. That is pretty much a synonym to the word weird, exactly what I don't want to be, exactly the opposite of normal.  Maybe I will sound weird sometimes. Probably most of the time if I really acknowledge Him in all things. Oh well. That is what I am commanded to do in Proverbs 3:5-6. The more I think about this verse, and the more I look at everything I do, the more I realize I have to learn. All. That is such a big word. I think this command is one most of us often fall short of. But as we try to acknowlege Him in everything, Jesus will surely acknowledge us before the King of Kings when our time on earth is done. Don't we owe it to Him, shouldn't we at least try? I'm workin' on it. ;)

love ya'll, autumn
